My Vintage Style Laundry Room

I recently did a laundry room makeover and I wanted to share some pics with you all.
It all started with seeing a picture from a country living magazine of how someone used an old wood framed screen door as a door for their pantry door.

Before the makeover, my laundry room consisted of the normal washer, dryer, a wash basin, shelves over the washer and dryer and a closet that I converted into a pantry.
The walls were a dark peach, I had curtains over the shelves and a long curtain hung in front of the pantry. The room was very dark with no windows.

So my quest began for an old screen door. My husband and I found one rather quickly at a local antique shop. ($35) It was was painted black and in decent shape so I planned to leave it as is.
It needed to be cut on all sides because it was too large for the interior doorway.

Sooooo, my husband cut it down for me one evening and the next day I hung it.
The black framed door made the room look darker yet so I decided to paint it a bright yellow.....well, you know how that goes, then the walls looked dirty and didn't match the bright yellow so I painted the walls a bright white. ($25 for paints)

I used a red pull knob for the door and I made curtains for the shelves from a vintage tablecloth.
Then I added some reds and yellow linens, reproduction tin laundry signs and I even glued magnets to clothespins to stick on my old washboard.

I am very pleased with the brightness and look. I am crazy about vintage, retro or the country chic look. My kitchen and dining room are decorating similarly.

Let me know what you think! I will surely add a few more items as I see them.
